Time to ask - 'Not what can my country can do for me but what can I do for my country'
A paraphase of JFK, nicked from Cicero
But shit is clearly hitting the fan ......

So what are you doing?

A lady, God bless her, without consideration had a printed leaflet delivered with this mornings mail - e mail, address, name, phone and even picture offering to run and collect food, medicine and what ever was needed to those in self isolation/ill health

Very moving in its simplicity and desire to just help

This is going to be shitty, so what are you aware of locally or involved with? Ask yourself fuckers, we need to dig in and do our bit, even if it is just asking the old dear next door if she needs her prescription collected or a pint of milk

It's our way, time to revert to type

Put notes through both our neighbours doors offering to get anything they need.

Though self isolating now.

My neighbour is a lovely old dear and I asked her last weekend if she needed any help but she declined.
I used to have some very bizarre and repetitive conversations with her husband who had Alzheimers but he died of cancer a couple of years ago.
She carers and her daughter comes once a week so is sorted thankfully.
She is also rather deaf and doesn't mind my guitar playing.

Various WhatsApp groups round here with everyone helping each other with bits and collectively keeping an eye on the old people.

Have given the council bods details to help with meals on wheels, meds deliveries and that sort of thing but thankfully not at that point here yet.

Going to take the opportunity to get a bunch of work done on my house as well. As good as government response has been to helping people financially, it doesn't cover everyone and there are a lot of good people who will struggle for money/work, so now is as good a time as any

Re: Time to ask - 'Not what can my country can do for me but what can I do for my country'
Someone put a note through my door earlier to say she lived in the area and If i needed anything to text, I didn't see her to see if she was fit unfortunately!
I am a slightly high risk but I said I don't need help but If she needed transport or help to let me know.

I set up a whattsapp group with a bunch of friends who live around me for news re: any vulnerable or sick people or neighbours etc

Oh and even though I've told my cleaner to not come round I'm still paying her.

I do most of this shit anyway, help people, easy!
Let ambulance people/paramedics etc get served before me, hell yeh, have even been known to pay for their drinks.
I don't need any memes or quotes to tell me to be a good person.

Unfortunately there will always be those that ruin it. Read about a couple of c**** who knocked on some elderly ladies door told her the government had sent them to sanatize her jewellery from Coronavirus, removed her necklace and rings and scarpered.

A few ilford pages Iā€™m on on FB the common theme is all the shops have doubled (or worse) the prices on rice and baby chickens.

My advice to go on a raw vegan or pork diet gets a few bites.

Weird that at my local Aldi, the only meat left is beef.

Never noticed the Hindu demographic before.

Amen, Hairy.

In this lockdown of social interaction, it's best to prove how virtuous one is by knocking uninvited at homes of elderly people to make sure that if they haven't caught the virus, that you can assist them at any time.
